Toronto House Cleaning Guide: Costs, What’s Included and How to Choose

You see your price upfront on the booking form, based on your home’s size, the type of clean and any extras. Behind it is the time your home needs: Cleaning Hive charges by the hour, with a 3-hour minimum per booking, and the typical prices below show what that means for most homes.

If your home needs more time than booked, we check with you first, and nothing is added without your approval. These are the things that shape your price:

• Size: the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, plus a finished basement if you have one.
• Type of clean: a deep, move-in/out or post-renovation clean covers more than a regular visit.
• Condition: a home that hasn’t had a professional clean in a few months usually needs a deep clean first.
• Extras: inside the oven, fridge or cabinets, interior windows, laundry, hand-wiped baseboards and similar tasks, each itemized on your booking.
• Frequency: save up to 15% with a recurring plan.

Supplies and a vacuum are included. Building rules and elevator bookings don’t change your price, and prices are the same across Toronto and the GTA, with no travel fees. There’s no contract and no upfront payment, and you can reschedule, skip or cancel a visit free of charge from your client portal with 48 hours’ notice.

A regular clean is the maintenance visit, following the same checklist room by room each time.

• Kitchen: counters, sink and faucet, stovetop, backsplash and cabinet fronts wiped, the outside of appliances and the microwave cleaned, and garbage and recycling taken out.
• Bathrooms: toilets, tubs and showers, sinks, mirrors and fixtures, with soap scum and hard-water build-up handled.
• Bedrooms and living areas: surfaces dusted, including shelves and window sills, door handles and light switches wiped, and beds made.
• Floors: vacuumed throughout and mopped where it’s safe to mop, corners and edges included.

A deep clean covers everything in a regular clean plus the build-up it skips: a degreased stovetop and range hood, cabinet fronts and hardware, scrubbed tile and grout, descaled sinks and faucets, vents and light fixtures wiped, and floors cleaned under furniture that can be moved safely. It’s the usual first visit for a new client, a seasonal reset, or a home that hasn’t had a professional clean in a few months.

A move-in or move-out clean is a detail clean of the empty home: it follows the deep-clean standard and adds inside closets and wardrobes, baseboards and a final detail pass on things like the top of the fridge and the oven door glass. Share your landlord’s checklist when you book and we’ll plan the clean around it.

Post-renovation cleaning deals with construction dust: the fine layer on every ledge, dust on new fixtures and dust inside cabinets. Book it after the trades finish and before the furniture goes back in.

Starting with a deep clean and then keeping it up with regular visits usually makes each later visit shorter, and you save up to 15% with a recurring plan.

• Weekly: busy families, pet owners and anyone working from home; the house never falls behind.
• Bi-weekly: a good fit for couples and professionals in condos and apartments.
• Every 3–4 weeks: tidy households that want a regular professional reset.
• One time: before guests, after a party, or before and after a move.

Price matters, but trust matters more when someone is working alone in your home. Before hiring any company or independent cleaner, ask these questions:

Many Toronto homes are condo suites, and a smooth visit depends on access. When you book, tell us if your building needs a visitor registration, a service-elevator booking or a key or fob left with the concierge. Your cleaner wipes balcony doors on the inside, too.

Pets are welcome. Tell us about yours when you book, and keep any that are nervous around visitors in another room during the clean. For a pet that sheds a lot, add the pet-hair extra when you book: it’s needed so there’s time for it.
